Certification Engineer
Full Time – Fixed Term 12 Month Maternity Cover
Onsite - Bristol
When you join as a Certification Engineer in our Defence team in Bristol, you’ll be supporting our Defence Assembly operations by delivering Original Equipment (OE) and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) certification to meet programme commitments. In this role, you’ll take ownership of certification activities for OE and MRO engines and modules, working closely with the wider certification team to ensure the highest standards of compliance and delivery.

What you will be doing
In this role, you’ll ensure the compliance and release of engines and modules to the highest regulatory and quality standards. You’ll work across Engineering, Quality, Operations and directly with customers to ensure that certification processes are robust, accurate and aligned with approved design data. Key responsibilities include:

Obtaining and maintaining the required training approvals and warrants to carry out certification activities.

Ensuring all engine and module processes (induction, repair, build, test and despatch) are fully compliant with regulations and approved design data.

Reviewing and validating documentation such as Modifications, Concessions and Airworthiness Directives to confirm compliance and accurate application.

Managing the impact of non-conformance on certification and supporting resolution through structured problem-solving methods.

Authorising the airworthiness and release of products on behalf of Rolls-Royce PLC.
Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking someone with strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams. You’ll be confident working with regulatory standards and able to make sound, data-driven decisions to ensure certification integrity. You’ll need:

Previous experience in the Aeronautical industry is necessary

ONC / HNC (NVQ Level 4) or equivalent qualification.

Experience in non-conformance management and certification processes.

Skilled in structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, Root-Cause Analysis or Problem Resolution Process.

Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage across technical and operational teams.
